In our opening episode of Depth Unknown, we trace the beginnings of our worldviews, the inner worlds that shaped our questioning and the external champions who gave us direction. We reflect on the early oscillations between solitude and community, self and other, and the figures - teachers, friends, institutions, and strangers - who became champions of our perspectives.
But champions don’t always hold. What happens when the people we looked to for guidance fail us, or when the stories we inherited no longer make sense?
We explore the tension between inner voice and outer influence, the disillusionments that pushed us toward our own voices, and the role of others in walking us toward who we are becoming.
